THE COMMUNITY YMCA
ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
Thank you for volunteering as a campaigner for the Y’s Annual Community Support Campaign! Please join us for Campaigner Training on March 22, 2017.
We'll gather at our Administration Office to present campaigner kits and resources for reaching our goals. Register to one of (3) scheduled times: 7:30 a.m., 12 noon or 5:30 p.m.
Save the dates! We have these additional events planned for our campaigners:
The Annual Campaign Kick Off – On April 5, 2017, we’re throwing a big party to Launch our Campaign to the public. We’ll announce all our accomplishments to date and invite the public to get involved and join us in helping kids soar.
The Annual Campaign Victory – On June 8, 2017, we’ll celebrate our success in reaching new heights! We’ll present our Outstanding Campaigner Awards and share stories from the Campaign trail at the Salt Creek Grille in Rumson.
WHY WE NEED ANNUAL CAMPAIGN VOLUNTEERS
• Volunteers have a feel for community needs. They relate to community issues affecting their family and neighbors. They share the value of Y programs with passion.
• Volunteers have greater credibility than staff when asking peers. People may assume that staff members ask as a part of their job responsibilities. Volunteers ask because they believe in the cause.
• Volunteers expand the number of personal meetings that can be held with prospects. Using volunteers provides our Y with more people to share the Y’s impact and need for funds in person.
• Volunteers expand the base of donors from many community networks. Often volunteers will ask their peers for a gift.
• Volunteers provide long-term, consistent leadership. Staff may change positions, but volunteers have aloyalty to the Y and can provide continuity in relationships with donors.
• Volunteers save staff time. Without volunteers, the campaign would require too much staff time and limit staff’s ability to deliver programs.
MAKING THE EXPERIENCE REWARDING FOR VOLUNTEERS
When campaign volunteers are supported by staff and the leadership volunteer who recruits them, there are true benefi ts for the individual.
• While helping others, many volunteers fi nd they can actually help themselves. Volunteers who feel successful develop a sense of satisfaction knowing they are making a difference for their community.
• While working on the campaign, volunteers can develop a deeper sense of belonging to the Y and will often develop new friendships with others through a shared commitment to success.
• This volunteer experience is designed to develop individual leadership skills through recruiting, training and motivating other volunteers.
